GCPA ByLaws CLE Requirements

Section 4.2 

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

 

It is required that this association hold a minimum of four (4) educational events or a total of 10 hours of education during each fiscal year in order to maintain affiliation with NALA.  These programs may be held in connection with regular meetings of the membership.

NALA Eligibility Requirements for the CLA Exam

You must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible to take the CLA Exam:

  1. Graduation from a paralegal/legal assisting program that is:

    1. Approved by the American Bar Association; or
    2. An Associate Degree Program; or
    3. A post-baccalaureate certificate program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
    4. A bachelor's degree program in paralegal/legal assistant studies; or
    5. A paralegal/legal assistant program with a minimum of 60 semester hours, of which at least 15 semester hours are substantive legal courses; or

  2. A bachelor's degree in any field plus one year's experience as a paralegal/legal assistant; or

  3. A high school diploma or equivalent plus 7 year's experience as a paralegal/legal assistant under the direct supervision of a member of the bar, plus evidence of a minimum of 20 hrs of continuing legal education credit completed within the 2 years immediately preceding the examination date.
